Massage Techniques

Relaxation Massage is a system of long strokes, kneading, friction, tapping, vibration and shaking motions that apply pressure between muscles and bones, rubbing in the same direction as the flow of blood returning to the heart.  Relaxation Massage feels good, is relaxing and invigorating and is known to assist with stress relief.
Sports Massage is the application of massage techniques to enhance athletic performance.  It encompasses pre-event, post event, training/conditioning and restoration/rehabilitation. Proper sports massage techniques accelerate the restorative process and increase the training and competitive capacity of the athlete.
Structural Aligning involves techniques designed to re-align the body in accordance with the identification of muscle imbalances resulting from over use of certain  muscle groups.  It is designed to improve general movement, balance and co-ordination.  It aims to identify the source of the imbalance and correct it.
Acupressure Massage is an ancient Chinese technique based on the principles of Acupuncture and involves the use of finger pressure (without needles) on specific points along the body.  It stimulates and activates the body’s own energies to help fight illness and restore harmony.  It is generally considered that it has the ability to regulate nerve function, to strengthen the body’s resistance to disease, to flush out the tissues and improve circulation of blood and to make joints more flexible.
Reflexology is a science that deals with the principle that there are reflex areas in the feet which correspond to all glands, organs and parts of the body.  It is a unique method of applying thumb and finger pressure on these reflex areas and points in a very safe and natural way. Reflexology is known to relieve stress and tension, improve blood supply and promote the unblocking of nerve impulses.
